Egyptian international and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah has won the 2017 CAF footballer of the year award, beating closest rivals, Sadio Mane and Gabon international, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang who came second and third respectively.
Salah led Egypt to the African Cup of Nations final in 2017 and was instrumental to their World Cup qualification; he joined Liverpool in the summer and has scored 17 Premier League goals so far this season.
“Winning this award is a dream come true, 2017 was an unbelievable year for me,” Salah said after receiving the award.
“I would like to dedicate it to all the kids in Africa and Egypt, I want to tell them to never stop dreaming, never stop believing.”
Asisat Oshoala Wins Women’s Player Of The Year Award
Nigerian international, Asisat Oshoala who plays for Chinese side, Dalian Quanjian was named the CAF Women’s Player of the year again, making it the third time she has won the award. Oshoala, who has enjoyed stints with Liverpool and Arsenal moved to China last summer.
