Antonio Conte responds to Mourinho after veiled jibe by calling the Italian a Clown:
Antonio Conte in his pre match conference for FA cup clash against Norwich suggested that Jose Mourinho has “demenza senile” after the Portuguese’ remark on his touch line behaviour comparing the Italian to a clown.
Jose Mourinho who responded to claims that he was unhappy at Manchester said on Thursday: “Because I dont behave as a clown on the touchline, it means that I lost passion”. A statement that seemed to infer that Managers such as Klopp and Conte who a renowned for their passion on the touchline are clowns.
Antonio Conte responded saying: “I think that he has to see himself in the past, maybe he was speaking about himself in the past, yeah?”
‘Maybe sometimes I think that someone forget what they said in the past or which is his behaviours and sometimes I think there is, I don’t know the name, demenza senile, when you are a bit, when you forget what you do in the past.’
Demenza senile translates into English as senile dementia. Conte’s English isn’t the best and so maybe as Cudicini who was translating for the Italian on Friday claimed, he might have meant “amnesia”.
The Chelsea Boss who seemed to be in for some tongue lashing also responded to claims by Arsene Wenger who suggested that Eden Hazard dived for a penalty in the 2-2 draw at the Emirates.
‘I think if Arsene Wenger watched the game again, understand that he was very lucky during the game for refereeing decisions,’ he said.
When asked if it was irritating that Wenger was talking about his players, He responded:
‘I think that it is very strange because I don’t like to speak about the other coach, the other players’.
‘I think that is a form of respect you must have and I repeat that sometimes for example, Wenger forgets that in the last few games we finish the game with 10 men when they won FA Cup and Community Shield and I think the referee decisions were a bit strange, you understand?’
‘I can talk, if I want I can talk about referee decision for one month but I don’t want to do this because we must have respect for the decision.
‘Also Wenger tries to find this way like other coaches and it is not good. You have to accept the decision. He is an old coach, he has experience, he won a lot, he has to continue to do what he did in the past.’
Conte also aimed a slight jibe at Mourinho yet again
‘For the other situation I am repeating. There is a person who continues to look here. He went away but continues to look here’. The Italian added.
