Despite failing to sign England international and Everton midfielder, Ross Barkley in the summer, Chelsea are reportedly set to move forward with the transfer with unofficial confirmation of a fresh transfer bid. 24-year-old Ross Barkley will become a free agent at the end of the season when his contract with the Toffees ends but the club are willing to cash in this summer.
Chelsea’s bid is understood to be in the region of £15million and they are hopeful that Barkley would be interested in a move this January as Tottenham are also understood to be interested in signing the player. The midfielder has been out for months as a result of a hamstring which was his primary reason for refusing a move to Chelsea in the summer.
Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte has bemoaned the club’s activity in the transfer window several times this season despite the fact that Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater, Alvaro Morata and Rudiger joined the club in the summer.
Unhappy Players Are Welcome To Leave
Antonio Conte went ahead to state that any Chelsea player who’s unhappy with lack of playing time is welcome to leave; “I prefer to have players very happy to stay here than to have players that are unhappy because when you are unhappy you transfer this to the other players, to me, to my staff and I don’t like this. If we can avoid this, I’d like to avoid this situation.”
