Alexis Sanchez Tax Fraud Case
Manchester United star, Alexis Sanchez has accepted a suspended 16-month suspended sentence from Spanish authorities.
Spanish authorities brought charges that Sanchez left over £890,000 in taxes in his time as a Barcelona player (2012-2013). Alexis Sanchez was accused of using a Shell company in Malta to avoid tax payments on his image rights.
He has since paid back the sum and accepted a 16-month suspended sentence which means he will not serve any jail time as Spanish sentencing hardly lead to jail time for terms shorter than 24 months. He is just one among some other high profile footballers such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo who have been investigated for tax fraud.
